A Thousand Tales Ballet
A Thousand Tales is a new contemporary ballet production that promises to transport audiences to a whole new world, where their favourite childhood tales will be brought to life in front of their very eyes!
Featuring an original narrative, the ballet is inspired by various childhood literary classics, including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Aladdin, Puss in Boots, The Three Musketeers, and many more, with seminal characters from each of these tales appearing within the show itself.
Merging these influences together in an enthralling mix of intertextual and artistic fusion, A Thousand Tales invites viewers to travel along on a magical adventure within this fantasy world, which is conjured up on the stage thanks to a series of stunning costumes and exquisite set decorations designed by the renowned Roberta Guidi di Bagno.
Guaranteed to immerse all those in attendance in this unique and enchanting experience, this realm is populated by an award-winning cast that has been specially hand-picked for this production. Each of the Principal Dancers have been individually selected from among the leading ballet companies in Europe, including such renowned names as Mario Galindo (Compania Nacional de Madrid), Alessandro Staiano (Teatro San Carlo Napoli), Anna Chiara Amirante (Teatro San Carlo Napoli), Alessandro Riga (Compania Nacional de Madrid), Giada Rossi (Compania Nacional de Madrid), Susanna Salvi (Teatro dell’Opera Roma) and Alessio Rezza (Teatro dell’Opera Roma).
These talented artists will be performing alongside a Corps de Ballet hailing from the highest echelon of the contemporary ballet world, with the choreography for all dancers emerging from the mind of the celebrated choreographer Francesco Ventriglia, whose infinite creativity continues to mesmerise all those fortunate enough to witness his work.
At the heart of it all, meanwhile, lies the music of acclaimed contemporary composer Alexey Shor, with his melodic and evocative works forming the backbone around which the ballet is built, emphasising its themes, and captivating audiences while drawing them ever deeper into its mystical realm. Famed for his tonal compositions, Shor has also developed a sterling reputation for being the musical mind behind various productions, and is thus perfectly situated to help craft the spellbinding world created in A Thousand Tales.
The ballet had its world premiere in January 2023, with two shows that were hosted on the 6th and 7th of the month at the spectacular location that is the Dubai Opera. This modern architectural marvel proved to be the ideal framework to the production, resulting in a truly unforgettable event for audiences of all ages that is now set to spread its magic across all four corners of the world!
