MPO European Tour

This coming spring, CMDI Group shall be collaborating with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra to organize a European tour of some of the continent's most illustrious concert halls. From the 28th of April to the 5th of May 2022, Malta’s premiere orchestra shall be delivering four concerts in four different countries, with the first stop being the Great Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic on April 28th, before the orchestra travels to the Czech Republic to perform at the Smetana Hall in Prague’s Municipal House on the 1st of May. This will then be followed by a visit to the Concert Hall of SPh in the Slovak capital of Bratislava on the 4th of May, with proceedings then coming to an end with a concert in Austria at the famous Musikverein in Vienna on the 5th of the month. Throughout this event, the orchestra shall be joined by its Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan, who has garnered a reputation as being one of the most exciting young conductors in the music world today, as well as the first prize winner of the 2019 Queen Elisabeth International Violin competition, and recipient of the 2020 Avery Fisher Career Grant and 2020 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award, American soloist Stella Chen. Together, the MPO and their guest star shall be performing a varied programme full of favourites from the classical music canon, coupled with music from a variety of pre-eminent contemporary composers, including works by Felix Mendelssohn, Aram Khachaturian and Alexey Shor, as well as a short piece by the renowned Maltese composer Charles Camilleri.
