Premiere of Crystal Palace Ballet in Bulgaria

This October 2023, CMDI Events will be bringing the acclaimed contemporary ballet, Crystal Palace, to Stara Zagora to mark its Bulgarian premiere. First produced in July 2017 in the Mediterranean island of Malta, Crystal Palace proved to be a huge success, with audiences around the world clamouring for further productions. 

Now, cultural lovers in Bulgaria and beyond will have the chance to experience the sublime beauty of this modern production for themselves for the first time, as the State Opera Stara Zagora will welcome a stellar cast of world-renowned dancers to its stage for a series of shows taking place from the 12th to the 13th of October.

Based on music written by contemporary composer Alexey Shor, Crystal Palace takes viewers back in time as it tells a historic story from the court of 18th century Empress Anna Ioannovna, who once commissioned the construction of a palace made entirely out of ice, before ordering two of her jesters to wed and spend the first night of their nuptials in it.
