Recital Series Across Europe for Mikhail Pletnev
Legendary pianist Mikhail Pletnev embarked upon a European recital series in 2026, which saw the celebrated maestro presenting performances across major venues in Austria, Vienna, and Spain. Taking the form of duo recitals with several distinguished violinists, the tour brought Pletnev to some of Europe’s most famed halls, leaving audiences across the continent with a taste of one of the most acclaimed figures within the global classical music community.
The series opened on April 18th, at the Mozarteum Salzburg, where Pletnev appeared alongside violinist Marc Bouchkov. Set in one of Austria’s most historic musical cities, the recital introduced a programme that moved across several distinct epochs, running the full gamut of the canon for the two storied instruments.
Later in the month, Pletnev continued the series in Italy, appearing on the 29th of April at the Auditorium Rai di Torino. For this recital, he was joined by violinist Daniel Lozakovich, bringing the same carefully balanced programme to a new artistic partnership. The Turin performance placed Pletnev in dialogue with one of the younger generation’s most prominent violinists, allowing the music to take on a fresh character shaped by a different interpretative dynamic.
The tour then moved to Spain, where Pletnev reunited with Bouchkov for a recital on May 3rd at the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. In this setting, the programme’s intimate qualities came especially to the fore, with the dialogue between piano and violin forming the central thread of the evening, as the duo traced a broad expressive arc across the repertoire.
Pletnev and Bouchkov continued their collaboration two days later, appearing on the 5th of May at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona to conclude the series in one of Europe’s most visually and culturally distinctive concert halls. The Barcelona performance brought together the same programme and partnership in a venue closely associated with the city’s rich musical identity, forming a fitting conclusion to Pletnev’s appearances across the continent.
