UK Piano Open
This spring 2023, CMDI is proud to present the second edition of the UK Piano Open, which will be held in the city of London, one of the major music capitals around the world, from the 30th of May till the 2nd of June.
Open to applicants of all nationalities, this international piano competition will take place over two rounds, with participants given a wide choice of repertoire, including a compulsory piece by the competition's Composer-In-Residence Alexey Shor, in an effort to ensure that each pianist can showcase the very best of their talents and abilities.
Overseeing the entirety of the event will be a hand-picked jury panel consisting of some of the most respected and experienced pianists and pedagogues working today, including Pavel Gililov (Austria/Germany), Vanessa Latarche (UK), Graham Scott (UK), Matthew Trusler (UK), and Ashley Wass (UK), to mention a few.
These maestros will be deciding who of the competition's participants is most worthy of the €18,000 prize fund, with €10,000 going to the First Prize winner, €5,000 to the second, and €3,000 to the third.
Moreover, this iteration of the UK Piano Open also forms part of the '14 Ways to Dubai' initiative, a large-scale international endeavor which consists of 14 preliminary piano competitions held in 14 different countries around the world. This means that the top-five-ranked UK Piano Open participants will also win the right to participate in the 2024 Classic Piano International Competition, which will be held in Dubai as part of the acclaimed InClassica International Music Festival, with a further €250,000 worth of prizes to be shared among the award-winners there.
